Resolution of high field of view cameras under close scrutiny
Gathering information about the resolution of fisheye cameras became convenient with the iQ-FoV Box, a flexible solution for different opening angles.
The flexible illumination of reflective test charts is now possible with iQ-Flatlight, a spectral programmable light source. It is the perfect tool to perform image quality measurements and a camera calibration.
High field of view cameras getting more and more used, for example in automotive or surveillance applications. Measuring the resolution of high field of view cameras requires a specific solution. The test charts need to be adapted to the geometry of the opening angle of the lens. One solution is using pre-distorted test charts. But one chart only works for one type of lens.
A most flexible tool is the iQ-FoV Box to perform image quality measurements for resolution aspects. Due to the adjustable positioning of the test charts the distortion of the test pattern in the image is minimized and the analysis method for slanted edges is applicable. Images, corresponding to one of the two specified setups can be analyzed automatically with the iQ-Analyzer.
Technical information
The iQ-FoV Box has an integrated, dimmable illumination system with additional neutral density filters to create low light situations. The metal walls allow attaching the magnetic test charts at any position. The test charts can be tilted due to their special construction with a hinge.
The accurate adjustment of the camera position is realized by a mechanical positioning system in height and depth and a remote controlled adjustment of pitch, yaw and roll. All these features allow positioning of the test charts for every kind of fisheye camera up to a viewing angle of 180 degrees and to perform a resolution measurement.
